I have 2 birth certificates of my Great Grandmother Fanny Vercoe and one of her brother James William Vercoe both stating date and place of birth as 03/02/1885 at Clandeboye Coastguard Station. I am desperate to further my search in to their parents James Vercoe and his wife Ellen Larey. The trail on both names Vercoe and Larey in County Down has gone cold and I would love any information which would explain their births in a Coastguard Station. Any information would be appreciated. Hi Maccolm, Have you checked the British Coastguards 1841-1901 Site on the Internet?. It mentions Samuel Vercoe born at truro in 1837 and family. A relative maybe ?. regards Tony Daly |
