My g.grandfather JAMES ALFRED WRIGHT was coastguard in Donegal from1863. He married in Moville in 1864 SOPHIA SEABOURNE a coastguards daughter & they had 8 children. My family have recently traced in the ancestors footsteps around that amazing coastline. We stayed in the coastguard cottages in Moville where my grandfather was born Then on to Greencastle (coastguard station now a maritime museum.) Next Torr Point (amazing views derilect row of cottages) G.Grandfather was the boatman in charge in1880 We then lost the thread In Clandboye & Ballygrot coastguard stations but found the family grave in the Belfast City Cemetary. |

JAMES ALFRED WRIGHT is my g.grandfather too. My grandmother was Annie Wright MacAllister-Minford and she is buried in the Belfast City Cemetery plot. I (Kathleen Dianne Jackson Maki) took care of the restoration of the plot after the original stone was knocked down and broken. There ended up being some inaccuracies on the stone. I have the original deed to the plot. I would like to know more about you and the family. I am in the process of putting together a book. -Dianne- (KD) Annie Wright was born at Torrs Head in 1880. Dear Dianne, We are delighted to see that our Forum has revealed that two families may have a common Great-grandfather, James Alfred White. Maybe a welcome chance to extend your family tree. Tony |
