Jeremiah Darby Harrington

According to my Grandmothers birth certificate she was born in Clancool and her father Jeremiah Harrington was in the Coast Guard Service -address Harbour View Rathclaren Parish Cork. I would love to find any info about his service record. Bill Donahoe at edisonj@optonline.net

I had another thought after I made the post above, and checked the National Archives online Seamans records of service in ADM 188. There are five Jeremiah Harringtons listed. The date given next to the name is the man's date of birth, but this must sometimes be taken with a pinch of salt.

A Jeremiah Harrington served at Crookhaven Coast Guard in 1826. He was transferred from there to Long Island (near Schull Harbour, the predecessor of Schull station) on the 31st of May 1826.
The Harrington surname is very common on the Beara penninsula in West Cork.

Thank you all for your replies,I looked at the sites mentioned but none are my Jeremiah He was born about 1823 near Eyeries Cork,my grandmother was born aug 1874 while he was in Service, Thanks again Bill
