Hello forum,
I am checking up on my great grandfather Michael Hazell. He was Chief Officer of Her Majestys Coast Guard circa 1870 - 1892. He died aged 62 in 1892. His protrait is below. We know he was married to Charlotte ? , and had 7 daughters. We think he was stationed in Northern Ireland, but are not certain. He also fought in the Crimea war.....
Would anyone have any info on Michael or Charlotte.
Your help would be much appreciated
Thanks

Hi

I don't know if you have tried the National Archives online search of seaman's service records, but I did a search and this returned only one result - and then for Hazel spelt with one l, but the date of birth looks about right from the information you provided (link below).

If you do decide to download this mans service record (£3.50) this will only cover from 1872, any prior service may be covered on a different series of documents, not yet online. However, if you can come back with a CG Station where he was stationed in the early, 1870s I may be able to trace him back.

Regards

Martin
