Hi, I'm new here and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction. Does anyone know where I can find records for someone who served as a Coastguard at Tynemouth sometime between 1940 and 1950? I've searched the NA but not found anything and can't find anything of any use for Tynemouth itself. Ive down loaded the service records for the T's but he's not there! My Uncle Robert Charles Taylor (born 1898 Newport, Isle of Wight) was stationed at Tynemouth around those dates and died there in 1953. I would like to find his records if that's is possible. |

Hi, and welcome to the Forum. For the particular period you are interested in the CG Service was no longer administered by the Admiralty, I also suspect that if any records do exist you would have to prove you were the next of kin. However, there is a service record available on the National Archives website that MAY cover his whole service: Link: http://www.nation...tcount=125 Additionally he is on the medal roll for WW1, receiving the 1915 Star, Victory and British War Medal, these were sent to HMS Princess Margaret, although the Star was returned and had to be reissued. Sorry I cannot be of more help. Martin |

Thank you for your reply. I have his naval service record and it only goes up to 1927 I'm afraid, when he left the navy. Merged on 12/09/2011 20:13:40: Have just looked at his naval records and there is no mention of HMS Princess Margaret. He joined in 1916. May I ask where this list is please. The information re his medals came from the Medal Roll available on 'Ancestry' (ADM 171/116). They were indexed under 'Robt C Taylor', and as a cross check the service numbers match (J 28230). Martin |
