Hi! I'm carrying out a surname study, and I'm looking at 'Kennington'. In one of the newspapers from FindMyPast, it states that a William Kennington was killed in June 1921 at Teeling, yet the link below says that it was a George Kennington in 1920. https://www.coastguardsofyesteryear.org/photogallery.php?photo_id=222 Both can't be right, so can anyone shed any light on either, please? Thank you! Smurf PS My mum's side has a smattering of Kenningtons, however they are located mostly in Lincolnshire, England. |

I believe it is actually William John Kennington and not George. I have not tried to find if he was seving at Teelin when he died, but the month and year of his death match the info on the War Graves Commission website: https://www.cwgc....ENNINGTON/ Martin I can confirm it is he. The Probate record records his death on Teelin Island, with his estate (£242.10) going to Eliza Matthews, wife of James Matthews, who I believe was his mother-in-law..
