Leysdown - Thomas Borrow
Anne Rowland
Hello,

Thank you for allowing me to join your community.

I am researching my family history and I THINK my great uncle Thomas Borrow, originally from Liverpool was a member of the Coastguard Service at Leysdown. I also am led to believe that he may have been involved with the rescue of the party of scouts during a rescue incident in August 1912.

In the vein hope that someone has knowledge of this, I just wondered if this information can be verified for me please.

Thank you in advance,

Anne Rowland

Hi again everyone,

I have today trawled through all the Kent papers today and have been fortunate to find the article(s) which related to the rescue of the London scouts by the coastguards at Leysdown in 1912. In fact, I have also been so happy to find a photograph of the man himself.
I thank all the kind souls who have read my post, and I am so glad I have been able to verify that my Great Uncle was indeed involved with the rescue of the boys.

Dear Anne,

Thomas Borrow was my mother's grandfather. She still owns the clock that he was presented with to commemorate his role in the rescue.. I will email a photograph of the brass plate to you. You and I may well be cousins in some way?

Best wishes,

Nick Parsons.
