Hi, I'm not sure if anyone is able to help with my query, but here goes.... My great-grandfather, Bernard Sullivan was in a small boat going from Larne to Islandmagee (somewhere between 1906 and 1913), when he fell overboard and drowned. He was between 42 and 49 years old and was going to Islandmagee to seek work as a Chimney Sweep. It's not clear to me if he was alone or someone was with him. He drowned and his body was never found. Again, whether or not the coastguard were alerted, I don't know, but if there are any logs or records that have survived, perhaps the incident was recorded. I have spent many hours in Larne library looking through copies of the Larne Times hoping to find an article about the incident but to no avail. If anyone can shed any light on this, I would be truly grateful. Thank you, Bernadette.
