Patrick Buckley was my great-grandfather. He died in Passage West on 28th April 1936 aged 78 years. He is buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Torytop Road, Cork. He had a large family, several of whom went to sea. One of his sons lost his life to a u-boat in 1941, West of Portugal.

Patrick Buckley was also my great grandfather . My grandmother was Agnes Buckley his daughter. As far as I know Patrick was married to Honor Clancy and they had 10 children. I am trying to do family tree so I would appreciate any further information...Laura O Mahony Cork

Patrick Buckley was also my great-grandfather, my grandmother was Elizabeth Buckley (married to Emmett Collins), my mother was Mary Collins (married to James Lyons). His son Patrick was killed when his ship HMS Stanley was sunk by a U-boat in 1941. Patrick Buckley was in charge of the boom across Roches Point during World War 1. He also received a medal for saving French sailors off the Leo XIII in 1907 off Quilty, Co. Clare.
