Additional Information:
Entered as Boy 1st Class on 08 January 1856 & posted to HMS Indefatigable, where he remained until 31 October 1857 when he joined HMS Cambrian as an Ordinary Seaman. He was promoted to AB on 03 March 1858 and LS on 01 May 1859.

He reverted to AB on 30 April 1861 and joined HMS Icarus on 26 October 1861. He joined HMS Canopus on 25 May 1864, transferring to the CG on 21 June 1864.

The 1871 Census shows him stationed at South Ferriby, Linconshire.
Transferred to Barton-on-Humber 01 January 1873 and then to Filey on 22 June 1874
