CORMAC LOWTH
I am Looking for information on Melfort D'alton, born 1867. who was a son of Edward D'alton, chief Officer in the Coastguard, Balbriggan, Skerries,Malahide, Howth. Melfort was born in Malahide and was a noted concert baritone singer in the latter days of the 19th century and well into the 20th. Any snippets of information at all would be of interest. I do not know when he died but he was alive in 1935, Regards, Cormac Lowth

There is an Edward D'Alton who was appointed Chief Officer as from 26 July 1821 (see irish Constabulary List, January 1857, p. 125). I have a note he is mentioned in the Irish Times on Saturday 9 February 1901 p. 3 also, but don't have access to the online version to check at present.
