I am Looking for information on Melfort D'alton, born 1867. who was a son of Edward D'alton, chief Officer in the Coastguard, Balbriggan, Skerries,Malahide, Howth. Melfort was born in Malahide and was a noted concert baritone singer in the latter days of the 19th century and well into the 20th. Any snippets of information at all would be of interest. Edward D'Alton (B Milltown Co. Clare Aug 1821) was at Skerries 1863-March 1866 Balbriggan from Apr 1866 - Malahide from Oct 1873 - On http://www.brsgen... there is a baptism record for Melfort Campbell D'alton in Balbriggan (C.of.I) in 1865. There is an death record in GRO for Gertrude Campbell Dalton - registered in 1939 in North Dublin (estimated b. 1869). In GRO there is a marriage record for Melfort Campbell Dalton in 1906 Dublin South. There is an Edward D'Alton who was appointed Chief Officer as from 26 July 1821 (see irish Constabulary List, January 1857, p. 125). I have a note he is mentioned in the Irish Times on Saturday 9 February 1901 p. 3 also, but don't have access to the online version to check at present. Regards Roger Roger Willoughby
