Gravestone of Five Mile Point coastguards
It is located in C of I graveyard beside church on outskirts of village. It is near the outer wall and to left of main entrance gate. The inscription reads, Sacred to the memory of Frederick Routleff aged 29 years and Thomas Mumford aged 30 yearsCoastguards at Five Mile Point who were drowned on the 24th March 1899 by the capsizing of the coastguard boat.This stone was erected by the admiral, captains, officer and men of the coastguard service in the united kingdom. Note different spelling of name Routleff on stone to that on newspaper records etc.

Just to add that this church and graveyard is located just outside Newcastle village - a couple of miles from the boat station.
