Coastguard William Lamble Roberts. 1809 – 1891.
He and his wife, Jane Goodmam, were born in Devonshire. They had 12 children. He was
a Chief Boatman and was stationed at Achill Island, Bullsmouth, Holywood and Tara stations.
The painting was made between 1850 and 1860, possibly in Belfast. In later years he was Harbour
Master at Bangor, He is buried at Holywood, Co.Down.

This is a photograph which has been painted and is a little over 10"x12". Does anyone know of any other such photos? I assume it was taken in Belfast when he was stationed in Tara. It has been x-rayed and there are no signatures etc. The one I have of his daughter is twice as big, and is painted too. I have searched for years... Thanks Lara-May
