Communication infrastructure in Irish CG stations
Fi
Hi, I'm new to the site and find it to be a brilliant resource so far.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any details related to when Irish coastguard stations were first equipped with telegraph connections in the late 19th century. In particular, I'm interested in the infrastructure put in place for communications at island-based coast guard stations. I know that a cable that ran from Lambay Island's Coast Guard to the North Dublin coast and would be interested in any information related to this or other similar connections.

With regards to the records held at the National Archives in Kew, would anyone have a sense of how likely it is to find information related to the installation of telegraph cables and equipment in Irish CG Stations from those records?

Any help or information would be greatly appreciated,
Fiona
